Stephen Swalm, B.Sc., Technical Advisor
Stephen started working in the oilfield in Coleville and Dodsland Saskatchewan in the early 80’s. He used the money from Battery Operating (worked in the oilfield all through university) to put himself through 8 years of university and ended up with two bachelor of science degrees. Post university of Saskatchewan, he owned and operated an oilfield environmental company which eventually employed about 12 full time professionals. They completed work all through Saskatchewan and Alberta oil fields providing supervision of all aspects of lease abandonments complete with government reclamation certificates. Companies such as Imperial Oil, Reece Oil and Amoco hired him to look after pipeline abandonments, pipeline repair and pipeline re-structuring. Stephen was also certified to remove and do soil testing for underground fuel tanks (USTs) in Saskatchewan. Environmental assessments were also supplied to banks and real estate customers.
Production chemical experience came with his employment at Contact Chemicals Inc. where he looked after a fully equipped oil field testing lab. Stephen was in charge of Product Development and Corrosion Services and successfully developed over 40 successful chemicals, right through from imagination to application, that were used by various customers. Corrosion pipeline assessment and corrosion failure reporting was also supervised by his position there. Eventually he ended up as VP Chemical and Corrosion Technology and managed the blending, intermediate sourcing and intermediate purchasing.
Presently Stephen is providing Performance 20/20 Inc. with Technical Services involving Lab Technical Services, Product Development and Technical Reporting.
A customer of his once stated, “I like your chemicals because they always do what you say they will do”.
